What a hundreds chart teaches

Moving one square right adds one; moving one square down adds ten — that simple structure is how children discover place value for themselves. Use the skip-counting highlights to make the 2s, 5s and 10s patterns jump out, then switch to the blank chart and have your learner rebuild rows from memory.

Games that work: cover ten numbers with coins and ask which are hidden; race to point at a called-out number; colour every multiple of 5 and describe the pattern.

Questions
What's a hundreds chart for?
Counting to 100, spotting number patterns, and learning that down-a-row means +10 — the foundation of place value.
What does skip counting show?
Highlighting the 2s, 5s or 10s turns their patterns into visible stripes and columns — children remember the picture, not just the list.
How is the blank chart used?
Print it and have your learner rebuild rows from memory, or fill in just the highlighted multiples. Keep a filled chart nearby for checking.
Is it free for classrooms?
Yes — unlimited printing, no sign-up, no watermark beyond the small footer credit.
